What is a Doula
..and what can you expect?
The word Doula originated in Greece and was used to describe a woman caregiver. Today, we use the term doula as a trained and experienced labor companion who provides a woman and her significant other (or birthing partner) continuous support, physical comfort and assistance in obtaining information before, during and after childbirth.

Studies have shown that the inclusion of a doula during labor has great advantages and benefits to childbirth. In several cases, the use of a doula has significantly reduced time spent in labor. Aiding in lower medical interventions, including cesarean sections! Being fully attentive to mom's needs reduces anxiety and stress, allowing for a more peaceful and all encompassing labor experience.
